In reality, there found a number of pieces of vessels and kiln parts during the recent excavation of 2001. It became evident from the excavation that there was an atelier.

Rengetsu ware

Location
University Hospital Campus
Caption

Rengetsu OOTAGAKI, a poet of Bakumatsu Stage, had lived for about a decade in the Shogoin village. She also made pottery by herself with her various poets on the surface of vessels through incision, namely Rengetsu ware, which seems to have gained a reputation among persons-of-letters. Every excavated piece of Rengetsu ware is a failure after the process of firing, which rather contributes to the periodisation of the Rengetsu ware.

Location
Main Campus
Caption

At the end of Edo Period, the area of the present Main Campus was served for the garrison of Owari domain (now known as Aichi prefecture). Finds excavated within this campus that are dated to that duration of time are supposed to have been mainly used by the inhabiting Owari troops. They include some pots that prove good connection with the homeland, Owari. One of the good examples is "Okonando-chawan" (a bowl with the "小" character in ink). This type of ware, having been locally manufactured in the Owari domain at that time, was also excavated at the other Owari garrison in the capital, Edo.
