Contents The relationship between the increased burden of housework and childcare and the improvement/worsening of family relationships is complex. Among those who live with their spouse, an increase in the amount of housework they do can be an opportunity to improve family well-being or a pinch that increases stress in family relationships. The underlying factor appears to be whether or not family members were able to discuss and coordinate the division of household chores as a result of telecommuting. Professor Ochiai points out that a social structure that allows both women and men to spend a reasonable amount of time and effort on both work and life is needed.
